You Didn’t Get the Job. Make Lemonade From That Lemon!

Lemons in a bowl

You made it through the gauntlet and in the final round didn’t get the job. Don’t lose out on this too!

First, sorry that’s a bummer! Second, when life gives you lemons these are my tips to make lemonade

🍋 When the Recruiter or Hiring Manager calls to let you down easy, ask for their honest feedback. What you learn from this experience, could be the 1% improvement that puts you over the finish line next time.

🍋 Ask the hiring manager and/or recruiter to connect with you on LInkedIn. Maybe you are a better fit for a job someone in their network is trying to fill. Or another role opens up later that you are better suited for. Or maybe their gold medalist bows out after the first month. Stay connected. Regularly share positive and interesting posts to stay at the top of their feed and remind them that they are missing out on your awesomeness.

🍋 If you are disappointed it means the job was a pretty good match. Reflect on your favorite things about it and use that to help you target the types of companies, teams, and leaders you want to apply to work with next.

Good luck, you got this!
